Kehl's is strategically and centrally positioned in Maitland Cape Town, half way between the northern suburbs (via N1 South) and the southern suburbs of the Cape Peninsula . Just five minutes from the city centre, via the N1 North Highway , an easy to get to position from all angles in Cape Town . Kehl's is situated on Voortrekker road, on the corner of second avenue Maitland.

Kehl's is just five minutes walk from either Ndabeni or Maitland railway station. Coming from the Goodwood side, hop off at Bus stop 1-256, or alternatively, from the Salt River side, the bus stop outside Shoprite.
Voortrekker Road is a busy main road with an abundance of mini bus taxis, to and from all directions, this makes Kehl's an easy shop to visit. There is ample secure parking, when visiting by car.

Kehl's - a piece of History
The founder of Kehl’s Upholstery suppliers, Mr. William (Bill) Kehl, started his career in the upholstery trade in 1956 when he joined Harvey’s Equipment Company, 32 Chiappini Street Cape Town. Under the guidance of Mr. and Mrs. Fernandez, they steadily formed the very first upholstery supply company in Cape Town.
In 1968, Bill Kehl decided to move on and make it on his own. He started a small business in 160 Bree Street, and called it Bill Kehl(PTY) LTD. This lasted for 2 years and in 1970 relocated to 29 Caledon Street, District six, Cape Town.
Kehl’s Upholstery Supplies was conceived on 26 October 1970.
Kehl’s traded from the Woodhead’s Building for 18 years, and in 1988, Bill’s son Neville Kehl joined the company. From the very first day Bill trained his son to do “every possible” job, from the cleaner, driver, packer, salesman, sales rep, till eventually he noticed that his son was ready to have the “Keys for the premises”
In this same year they purchased their own premises at 403 Voortrekker Road Maitland. This proved to be a very central and sensible location. Moving was a big risk. The entire Business fitted into about 10% of the premises. The building was in a very poor state, the roof was rotten and the electricity supply was “dangerous” to put it mildly.
Neville’s first task was to tidy up and get things going, and that’s what he did. 14 Years later, in 2002, the company changed forever. Neville took over management of Kehl’s and the business moved into top gear. The Shape, image, logo and staff were changed. Neville designed and managed the construction of a modern, state of the art showroom. The delivery service was improved and a visit to Kehl’s today is an experience you will battle to forget.
Today, Kehl’s is the “Only Total ” upholstery supply company in the Cape. Our customers come from many walks of life and not are all from the peninsula. We have a very efficient mail order, despatch department, and are able to send goods to any part of South Africa and neighboring states.
Oh the 1st of June 1995 Kehl's purchased LE Lutrin Vinyls from the late Lionel Lutrin in Commercial Street Cape Town. This buisness was absorbed into Kehl's
In 2000 Kehl’s acquired an old and established company from the late Mr. Jeff Roberts in Durban, Kwa Zulu Natal. The company was “Forrest Fabrics Pty Ltd.”
On the first of March 2006, Forrest Fabrics was officially amalgamated into Kehl’s Upholstery Suppliers, making it the first branch of Kehl’s outside of the Cape.
“We are proud of our past” says Neville, “experience has been our best teacher, and gives us a solid base from which to press on into the future."
