Roof lining comes from specialist motor trimming suppliers rather than general fabric shops, because it needs a foam backing bonded to the face cloth. Kehls stocks it alongside automotive carpet and seat vinyl, and cuts it from the roll to the length you need. Buying from a trim supplier means you can feel the foam thickness before you commit, and the piece comes off one roll with no joint across the roof.
A foam-backed knit or brushed fabric is the standard choice. The foam layer lets the material follow the curve of the roof board and hides small imperfections underneath. Plain woven fabric with no backing will not stretch into shape and tends to lift at the edges.
